Keenan's Update

Hi Susan,
I wanted to give you our latest update on Keenan's progress. We are approaching our 100th week of doing AB and as you know, this year (grade 5) is the first year that Keenan has been on the regular classroom program rather than the modified program that he has been on since Grade 1. In previous years Keenan has never received letter grades on his report card because they are not given on the modified program. Last week was report card week for the first term and this is the first time Keenan was to receive letter grades. This in itself is a major accomplishment, but you won’t believe the grades that he got! He received a “B” in French, C+ in Science, a C- in both Mathematics and Language Arts, and a “C” in both Personal Planning and Fine Arts. We are both so thrilled! I never thought this was possible before starting AB. Keenan was both proud and disappointed. He said the “C’s” were okay, but by next year he would have all “B’s” and one “A”, and then by grade 7 he would have all A’s!
We are still finding some challenges, his language skills are still behind but getting better since starting the language portion of AB. He works quite hard to attain his C’s but he has developed such good work habits that he received “G” for effort in all subject areas (the highest rating). I can’t believe how far we’ve come since starting AB. His struggles with math are improving dramatically and he learns much quicker now that he ever could before. We have that “light bulb” moment so often now. It is an absolute joy to watch him learn now because he can learn now.
Thank you Susan, Dr. Jan and Benetta for all the help and support you’ve given us over the past 100 weeks. It is unbelievable to me how you can give such support with as many clients as you have.
Have a wonderful holiday season.
Best,
Wendy and Keenan
