The Audiblox Diary of Kori MitchellDecember 2002Posted by Michelle on December 1, 2002, 9:14 pm Hi again! Well, we took Thursday and Friday off because of Thanksgiving. Kori was out of town with her Father. It was a great break. She did her reading comprehension #3 in 27 minutes and scored 50%. I know she has declined but you should see how difficult these are! Benetta, each one has gotten a bit harder but the next one looks to be the same level. I didn't even expect her to get half right. I guess I'm under estimating her progress. Well, here's the rest of her update: Well, that's all. I'm very excited to see Kori reading so well. I've been amazed that she can even handle these reading comp sheets. Thanks Audiblox! "Kori is awesome!" Posted by Susan on December 2, 2002, 10:00 pm , in reply to "Kori's Diary" Dear Michelle, We are all proud of Kori. And just in case people think Kori is going downhill, I have linked to the first 5th grade comprehension test (I have omitted the questions), for which she scored 70%. The standard of A Beka Book is high. Therefore we endorse them, and for teaching children about South Africa!
Best wishes, Link: Kori's first 5th grade comprehension test Posted by Benetta on December 4, 2002, 2:33 pm , in reply to "Kori's Diary" Dear Michelle and Kori Hi there! As always, the latest update brought good news. Michelle, I am sure the comprehension tests are difficult, which puts Kori's performance on an even higher level. Michelle, please note that I shall be on leave from the 13th of December. I shall only be back at work again on the 13th of January 2003. Therefore, I shall not be able to respond to Kori's diary. Your next posting must only be on the 13th of January. As Christmas and New Year are coming closer, I think Kori deserves a break too. She has worked very hard since we started in January this year! I am going to put her on a maintenance program for the coming few weeks. This will imply that she only needs to do 3 sessions of Audiblox per week. She must continue with a weekly comprehension test, though. Concerning Kori's program, please note that you should disregard the program from the e-mail dated 2002-11-06, and follow the program given in my personal e-mail. Do the lesson three times per week. Concerning the Sequencing exercise, please keep the target at: Start with 12 blocks/add 7 when correct within the allotted time/add none when incorrect. Kori, even though you managed 40 blocks, I shall adjust it in the new year again, as we are now following a maintenance program. Concerning the Counting exercise, continue as is, i.e. review some of the older steps on Day 1. Drill the current new step on Day 2, which must still be counting in 2s, in odd numbers from 1-99 and back. We shall only add new work again in the new year! Michelle and Kori, these are all the changes for now. I shall speak to you again on the 13th of January 2003, if all goes well. May your Festive Season be blessed and all the best for the coming year! I hope in 2003 Kori will go from strength to strength! Thank you for a wonderful year's co-operation and hard work. "Merry Christmas!" Posted by Michelle on December 6, 2002, 6:08 pm Kori is so happy about the new program till mid January. What a treat for us. We will enjoy it. Will we still be expected to see progress during this time? Blessings to you all! Posted by Benetta on December 10, 2002, 1:06 pm, in reply to "Merry Christmas!" Dear Michelle and Kori, I thought Kori would be pleased with the new program! She definitely deserves a break... Yes, although we are doing fewer hours than before, you should still be able to see progress. Have a Blessed time, Benetta. To continue to January 2003, click here |
