What Parents Say (41-50)I am a very enthusiastic newcomer to Audiblox. I bought the program for my nine-year-old son, Quintin, and am already so excited about his progress with the program. Sheryl has been a tremendous resource and her input has been invaluable. I have been truly amazed at how quickly we have seen progress with his focus and concentration skills and how that has translated to improved reading skills. . . — R. Lewis, USA. *** It is with great joy I am writing to you. I received my Audiblox kit but could not start in August due to some constraints, however I started in October and the results were more than a thrill. My son has been at a score of 250 out of 500 for long, but after doing half an hour every morning before he goes to school at the end of the term he made a progress of 321. His teachers are also overwhelmed with his reading and the confidence he has developed. — Leila Wangari. *** His change is nothing short of miraculous according to his teachers. In the first term he could not read and they were very worried about him. Now he is the top reader in his class. — Mrs. L. Ritchie, South Africa. *** My daughter has dyslexia and we were told two years ago that she would not be able to read or write, but we have achieved amazing results with Audiblox and she is in a mainstream school and coping well. Her favourite hobby is, believe it or not, reading. — Janine Webb. ***
Hi Barbara! Thank you so much for your concern regarding Audiblox. We are doing super and are in our 6th week of Audiblox. We are blessed by God that this was sent our way. We were faced with finding another phonics program, and I just couldn't do that anymore. After having used 14 different phonics programs & tutoring two times, I told my husband we had to find another way! Audiblox has been a miracle. Matthew is almost 10 years old and has wanted to read since he was 4. He was labeled severe dyslexic and auditory processing problems in Spring of '05. It wasn't until I began working with him everyday doing Audiblox that I realized how severe his dyslexia was. Now we are amazed at his progress in just 6 weeks time. We are spending 1 hour per day 5 days a week doing Audiblox. We homeschool, so we spend the rest of the day doing his schoolwork and playtime. Matthew is able to read 90 of the yellow word cards without any errors or hesitation. This week he has attempted to and has accomplished reading two Bible passages: Genesis 1:1-5 and Psalm 23:1-4 (there were a few minor errors, but mostly every word he either knew or sounded out). This would have been virtually impossible prior to Audiblox. Pre-Audiblox, he couldn't remember the word “the” and “a” even though he had seen them hundreds of times. Many times he would look at the word in frustration and say, “I just don't know.” He was not being obstinate, he truly didn't get it. He does extremely well with the logic, spatial & arrows exercises — he picked up on these immediately. The sequencing exercise is up to 20 blocks during the allotted time and can do up to 10 blocks of the pattern exercises. At first, I didn't see why he needed to do the counting exercise as he has done well with math. But at that first session he couldn't count backwards from 10 without leaving numbers out. Now he is fluent and can count from 1-30 and backwards without any hesitation! Amazingly now I can give him simple addition problems and he can give me the sum immediately. One big plus to using this program is that it has helped his memory and his auditory processing problems. Prior to Audiblox we could not give him several commands and expect him to carry them out (e.g. take out trash, make bed, walk dog, etc). That would have been way too much verbiage for him to comprehend & take action upon. Within 3 weeks of doing Audiblox, I can now give him detailed instructions or several commands and he follows them perfectly, without returning to me and saying, “Huh, I didn't understand what you said!” We can't sing the praises of Audiblox enough! We were praying that God would provide a way for our precious son to learn to read and I firmly believe Audiblox is the answer! Thanks for listening to our progress report. Next week I go to a Special Education meeting for homeschool families in North Carolina and I am going to share with them how Audiblox has helped unlock Matthew's mind to understanding reading. Hopefully, you'll be receiving some orders soon! Blessings. — Pam Foy. *** You sent me my Audiblox kit about 6 weeks ago now and I have been using it with my son 5 times per week. I wanted to tell you that we are seeing some wonderful results. Sean is actually reading for pleasure and says that he is suddenly able to read more easily and quicker. His handwriting, which was so tiny, has become larger and easier to read and he is writing more. In fact I went into school to see his work because he had written a whole 2 pages in his school book! Sean was quite reluctant at first but now I don't have to cajole him to do Audiblox he wants to do it. I think he realises that it is helping him. We will continue with the program and I have started doing the pre-school exercises with my 4 year old. Thank you. — Abi Stinson, UK. *** I have been using Audiblox with 5 of my 7 children for almost two weeks now. The more familiar I become with the program the better I like it. This really is an amazing program. It is simple enough to be do-able — exercises are straightforward, easily implemented with little advanced training or preparation — yet it is brilliant in that I can use it with every age level (pre-K through high school), whether my students are advanced, slow-to-learn, or average (I have all three types of learners), and I can see how we can continue to use Audiblox practically indefinitely as each student is able to do the exercises on a more complex level. Audiblox is also comprehensive, covering reading, writing, mathematics, spelling, not to mention improving comprehension, concentration, memory, listening skills, etc... — Vyckie Bennett, Northeast Nebraska. *** At the beginning of the school year we were told by the teacher that Brent in Grade 2 had a maths problem and was reading at the age of a 5 year old. Brent is 7 years old. We were told that he would probably have to go to a remedial school, but we were not happy with this option. We heard about Audiblox and after a lot of research we thought that this was an option to take. So we started Brent on the Audiblox program in March. The results have proved themselves... We have had reports back from the teacher that he is producing the most amazing maths, his concentration levels are great, his memory has improved drastically, his reading has improved and his self-confidence has also improved. Last term he came third in a class of 26 children for spelling. — Wendy and John Davidson. *** I want to thank you for the ezine article Talk Your Child Clever. When I first came here to take care of my 17 month old granddaughter, she was not talking, only grunting and whining. After her parents left for military duty, I constantly spoke to her, beginning with please and thank you. She picked up on so many words immediately. Every day a new word comes out of her mouth. It is so exciting to see her grow. It's been two months and she's happier when she can get her point across. A happy grandmother. *** The letter below was forwarded by Don McCabe, founder of AVKO: Dear Mr. McCabe, I am interested in using AVKO as my spelling program next year with my son, Zachary. We homeschool and Zachary will be in fifth grade. He was VERY delayed this year and is now on grade level. Which program should I use? “Sequential Spelling” or “If it is to be...?” Also, am I right that you are looking for testimonies from Audiblox users? I have very successfully used Audiblox. Zachary could read at the beginning of this school year, but Writing, Spelling and Math were all difficult and frustrating for him. He has (had?) Central Auditory Processing Disorder and Sensory Integration problems. He very much wanted to be “caught up” (which in his mind means not working below the level of his younger sister). At the time, he was misspelling three letter words (which he had studied for several weeks!), could not write a complete sentence without bursting into tears and could not remember how to do simple Math problems. I purchased Audiblox in November, after seeing a demonstration and began using the program five hours a day. (At the same time, I also began using Earobics and he was going to Occupational Therapy. Earobics is a program that teaches children how to hear the difference between sounds). At first, we just did the Audiblox, but no academic work. I could not really understand how the activities would "transfer" over to academic work, so I video-taped Zachary reading before he began the program and then 10 hours after using the program. We were surprised to watch both segments and see the difference. While his reading hadn’t changed, the way he read and held his body did. In the first segment he was moving/wiggling while reading (and had chosen a rocking chair to sit in). His face was very tense. In the second portion of the video-tape, he was very relaxed and was sitting still. He had chosen to sit on the couch. After using the program for two weeks, I told Zachary I was going to set a timer for 30 minutes. He was to write a story (even if it was just one sentence) and he was to spell all the words by his best guess (he has a small booklet of words he usually uses to spell words). I asked him not to cry about it, but just to do his best. In 30 minutes he had written THE MOST BEAUTIFUL story about a rabbit in a pet store. All of his sentences were in proper chronological order!!! (He had only just begun learning how to do this in his spoken speech!) The most surprising thing, though, was that he had CORRECTLY spelled many 5 letter words!!! Whenever I meet someone with a child who is struggling, I do not hesitate to recommend Audiblox. I think every child who is struggling deserves the opportunity to try this program. It is wonderful!!! I mention the other two things Zachary was doing (Earobics and Occupational Therapy), because I think both of them contributed to his increased academic ability. However, I do give much of the credit to Audiblox because it addressed so many problems Zachary was having. I think he needed all three programs to be completely successful.) I look forward to your response concerning your spelling programs. I would like to pick the program that would be most suitable for Zachary. Thanks so much! |
