Audiblox can be applied one-on-one and in a group setting. On this page the one-on-one application of the Audiblox program is explained. This application of the Audiblox program can be used at home and in school.
The following materials are required to use Audiblox on an individual basis and are all included in the Audiblox kit:
The book The Right to Read:
This book contains the theory on which the Audiblox program is based, descriptions of the most frequently used Audiblox exercises, as well as the standard Audiblox program for individual use. This program is called the Dyslexia Program and should be used for learners with dyslexia or other reading difficulties.
A supplementary manual:
The supplementary manual contains helpful advice, for example how to do the exercises with a time limit which will speed up the learner’s work tempo. The supplementary manual also contains five specialized programs, which are designed for learners who have specific needs or problems in only one area. These programs are:
Dysgraphia Program: This program is aimed at improving the reading and handwriting ability of a schoolchild as quickly and as effortlessly as possible.
Spelling Program: This program is applicable for the learner who has no reading problem, but has a problem with spelling.
Math Program: This program is applicable for a learner who has no reading problem, but has a problem with mathematics.
School Readiness Program: This program is applicable for the child who must be prepared for formal schooling.
Program for High School Learners or Adults: This program is applicable to a high school learner, whose reading ability is no more than one year behind his chronological age. The program is also suitable for an adult with mild to moderate learning problems. It can also be used to enhance the skills of an older student or adult who is functioning at or above normal abilities.
Compublox (included free of charge):
Compublox is a computer program on CD containing four Audiblox exercises, which can be used to supplement the various Audiblox programs. It is compatible with Windows XP/2000/ME/98.
The following teaching materials are also included:
Coloured blocks: Ninety-six coloured blocks, equally divided into six different colours — black, white, red, green, blue and yellow.
Screen: The screen is used to shield blocks from the learner.
A set of colour cards with pre-printed patterns: These are used for one of the Audiblox exercises.
A set of letter cards.
Reading book and word cards: The reading book Rainbow Dreams contains a story made up of the 800 most commonly used words in English. Word cards of words appearing in chapters one to three, and word lists of words appearing in chapters four and five, are included in the package.
Audiblox DVD: The Right to Read contains clear descriptions of the frequently used Audiblox exercises, accompanied by photos where necessary. The Audiblox DVD also demonstrates these exercises in detail.
