André Steyn
From his first year at school, André battled to cope. I quote a few extracts from the abundance of reports: 'André is not yet ready for formal education. Numerous deficits must still receive attention.' 'André's co-operation is not always as desired. Instructions must be repeated. He only completes tasks with encouragement. Aggression has decreased.' 'André does not know his sounds. He needs a good deal of help with functional work. Reversals occur frequently. His reading comprehension is generally poor. He shows lack of independence in Mathematics.' 'Academically, André is far behind the rest of his class. He reads word for word and has no comprehension. He is not even able to write down simple sentences. His spelling is poor and he even copies the words incorrectly from the blackboard. He is very restless and constantly disturbs the other children. He is always in the mood for a quarrel and is a telltale. André will have to work very hard.' It is with great gratitude that we observe André's progress. He is currently a learner at the Sonstraal School for the Mentally Handicapped and as a child he is happy. His reading ability, Mathematics, dexterity, knowledge of left and right and his concentration has improved a lot. As parents, we are more than satisfied with our child's progress in this school. Audiblox is the first program that really helped André to progress to satisfaction. He is currently following the Brainline system and makes astonishing progress with it. He passed Grade 1 with an average of 87,33%. André's average for the June exams, Grade 2, was 66%. He is able to remember up to 22 blocks in the Sequencing exercise and 16 blocks in the Pattern exercise. He can also read 347 of the Audiblox word cards. |
